Description

This easy to use Talking Glucometer is designed especially for blind and low-vision users. Small, lightweight and convenient, the unit allows users to take measurements wherever and whenever. With no coding required, this unit is easy to use and fully audible, guiding users from setup through results by speaking in English each step of the way. Raised, imprinted buttons also make it easy to navigate the device. Simply insert a test strip into the test strip port and the unit will automatically power on. Accurate results are delivered in 7 seconds. Even better? Because only a small blood sample size is needed, the Prodigy Pocket is approved for Alternate Site Testing (AST). A standard USB port is included, allowing results to be easily downloaded to Prodigy's free diabetes management software. Additionally, the unit's memory can recall up to 450 tests, each with date and time. Please note the Prodigy Pocket comes complete with everything needed to get started: the meter, batteries, strips, lancets, lancing device, control solution, a carrying case and an instruction guide that includes the owner's manual, logbook and quick reference guide. This meter is the only meter to receive an Access Award from the American Foundation for the Blind (AFB) and an Access Plus Award from the National Federation of the Blind (NFB). Memory provides 7, 14, 21, 30, 60 and 90-day test result averages. Fresh batteries should have a lifespan of approximately 1,000 tests. This meter doesn't require fingertip blood. AST is approved for this unit, so users can test blood from their palm, forearm, upper arm, calf or thigh. To help conserve power and save battery life, the unit automatically shuts off after one minute of inactivity. To clean, wipe the outside of the meter using a damp cloth with mild detergent mixed with water or rubbing alcohol.
